Abstract
Melrose Construction Ltd was granted planning permission for the demolition of a
former resource centre and erection of twelve affordable dwellings and associated
access, parking and landscaping (12/00877/FUL). The site lies between Norfolk
Street, to the north, and Pinfold Lane, to the south, in Skerton, north Lancaster,
Lancashire (SD 47921 62838).
Due to the potential for below-ground archaeological
remains on the southern half of the site fronting Pinfold Lane, in the area previously
occupied by possible medieval or post-medieval buildings (the northern half of the
site having been laid down to gardens), discussions between Oxford Archaeology
North (OA North) and the Lancashire County Archaeology Service (LCAS), led to a
programme of strip, map and record being agreed.
