Abstract
Planning permission was given for the demolition of Brownhill School and the construction of a replacement school on the site. A DBA asssessment in the first instance, the results of which would be used to inform the subsequent excavation of eight trial trenches. OA North was commissioned to undertake the DBA in Nov/Dec 2011.
Based on the results of the DBA, eight trial trenches were first thought needed but after further dicussion with GMAU, led to the omission of Trenches 1 to 3, as these areas would not be impacted upon by the proposals.
All these features are thought to be associated with the seventeenth to nineteenth century landscaping of the grounds.
