Abstract
Natural Retreats proposed the construction of a holiday resort on land surrounding South Planks Farm, which was historically in the parish of Myserscough, now Myerscough and Bilsborrow, and is south of both settlements. LCAS recommended an archaeological desk-based assessment and walkover survey to inform the planning process as to the potential impact of the proposed development on the cultural heritage resources. The DBA and walkover survey were carried out in April and May 2011.
The earliest site is the putative route of the Roman road from Preston to Lancaster, which runs through the eastern part of the study area, purportedly to the west of the current A6.
