Abstract
Between the 20th April and 22nd of April 2016, OA East conducted an archaeological evaluation at land adjacent to No 37 St Johns Avenue, Woodditton, Newmarket. Four evaluation trenches were excavated, three of which contained curvilinear ditches and pits. All of these features cut into the subsoil and contained artefacts dating from the late 19th century at the very earliest. With no known structures or field boundaries at the site, these features may represent possible practice (slit) trenches dating from the beginning of the First World War.
