Abstract
An archaeological strip map and sample exercise was carried along the route of the Pound Lane, rising main replacement scheme in the areas where open cut trenching was required. Three fields were investigated with the majority of the archaeology confined to Fields 1 and 2.
The excavation and sampling of the features identified a series of features dated to the Early Neolithic. Further features were identified dating from Middle Bronze age, Iron Age and Roman periods. Further unphased features were identified and are likely to be associated with these phases of occupation.
