Abstract
In May 2001 the Oxford Archaeological Unit carried out a four trench field evaluation at Markyate Cell Park on behalf of the Environment Agency. The evaluation revealed an extensive area of made ground in the south-west part of the site, as well as a Roman pit and layer of redeposited gravel and clay. A ditch of medieval or later date was also discovered.
