Abstract
In advance of the construction of the Channel tunnel Rail Link, the OAU were commissioned by Union Railways (South) Ltd to undertake a watching brief at Bower Road, Smeeth, Kent.
The intervention was subsequently classified as a Watching Brief Significant Discovery Individual. The watching brief recorded a sequence of late Iron Age and Roman activity dating from the late Iron Age to the 4th Century AD. Minor evidence for medieval activity or post-medieval was also recorded.
