Abstract
During 18th -22nd September 2017 Oxford Archaeology undertook a trial
trench evaluation of three conjoined fields to the north-east of Tutshill, in the
Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire. The evaluation revealed undated potential
archaeological features including ditches and tree-throw holes.
Two trenches in the southern part of the site each contained a single
archaeological feature of medieval date, a ditch and bank and a small pit. The
pit also contained a quantity of animal bones, the majority of which were from
marine fish, as well as well-preserved plant macrofossils.
