Abstract
In 1989 OA undertook archaeological works at the site of the former Halls Brewery, Park End Street, Oxford. This assessment provided a new insight into the development of not only the suburb of St Thomas but also of the entire western side of Oxford and revealed some unusually well preserved late medieval house structures built on what might be a deliberately prepared estate plan at a time when such a major development would not have been expected in this suburban situation.
