Abstract
In 1986 OA undertook archaeological assessment of the Rewley Abbey area. The purpose of this work was to establish the quality of the remains and to sample the quality of deposits without disturbing any structural remains. Parts of Rewley Abbey are seen to be preserved better than any of Oxford's other dissolved houses and these are the parts which, as a putative college plan have the most impact for the history of Oxford, its university and the Cistercian order in England.
