Anglo-Saxon Burials at The Three Kings, Haddenham 1990

An Anglo-Saxon male and female burial with grave-goods, and fragments of nine other skeletons were excavated in the car park of the Three Kings, Haddenham. The grave goods found with the male of the double burial consisted of an iron spear of the 6th century; an iron 6th century shield-boss, a 5th or 6th century iron knife; copper alloy tweezers and an iron buckle. The female was buried with a 6th century copper alloy brooch; amber beads; "silver in glass" beads; a bone spindle whorl; a knife; and an iron key. A stray polychrome glass bead was also found within the joint burial site. The skeletal material was examined by Corinne Duhig of Cambridge University.
