Abstract
In January and February 2003 Oxford Archaeology (OA) carried out an
archaeological watching brief at New University Club House, Mansfield
Road, Oxford (NGR SP 5175 0608). The work was commissioned by The
University Surveyor’s Office in advance of the construction of a new
clubhouse. The watching brief revealed the presence of part of the inner
Civil War defences in the form of a ditch and associated bank.
