Abstract

During October 2018, Oxford Archaeology (OA) North undertook an archaeological evaluation at the site of the Darwen Eastern Development Corridor. The work was commissioned by Capita on behalf of Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council and followed a phase of non‐intrusive geophysical and drone survey work. Four areas were excavated in order to investigate possible features identified during the previous survey, and potentially discharge planning conditions by determining the presence and survival of archaeological remains within the proposed development area. The work
progressed without hindrance and identified a single archaeological linear ditched feature of likely late post‐medieval or modern origin.
