Abstract
In December 2001, Oxford Archaeology (OA) carried out an archaeological watching brief at 179-183 Sydenham Road, London, SE 26 (NGR TQ 3617 7164). The work was commissioned by Greenacre Homes Ltd in advance of the construction of a three storey building comprising of 4 two bedroom properties and 7 single bedroom flats. An undated soil horizon above the natural clay was observed in one location. The site appears to have been truncated during construction of the 19th century building that was demolished in the course of the work here.
