Abstract
A series of watching briefs maintained during constuction and tree planting work during January - March 1994 in the vicinity of the stable blocks at Osterley Park House, Islworth, Mirldlesex, revealed the remains of 17th/18th
century drainage systems servicing the stables and brewhouse along with brickwork footings for a substantial water tower known to have been in existence up until the late 19th century. A number of 16th century
architectural fragments were recovered from the excavated tree pits. Although the results of the watching briefs do not provide answers to specific questions on the development of the stable blocks, they form part of a growing body of
detailed records of recent interventions on the building.
