Abstract
Oxford Archaeology North were commissioned by National Wind Power Ltd to undertake a
desk based assessment to inform a planning application for a small wind power scheme at
Uglow Farm, Blackburn, Cumbria (NGR SD 7407 2008). The work involved a desk-based
study in conjunction with a walk-over survey. The work was undertaken in the first week of
the April 2003.
The desk-based study demonstrated finds of prehistoric lithics within the environs of the
proposed turbines and that there was the potential for further finds associated with a ridge
running along the northern side of the site. A possible prehistoric settlement has been
suggested as being on the site of Uglow Farm.
