Petroleum Exploration Site, Mythop, Lancashire. Archaeological Evaluation Report

An archaeological evaluation was undertaken on land to the north of Mythop Road, Mythop,
near Weeton-with-Preece in Lancashire (centred on NGR SD 3585 3538). The study area is
in a field of permanent pasture, with a proposed access road leading north from Mythop
Road. The work was carried out by the Lancaster University Archaeological Unit (LUAU)
on behalf of Independent Energy UK, and comprised a desk-based study, compiling data
from the Lancashire Sites and Monuments Record and the Lancashire Record Office in
Preston, followed by a programme of trial trenching.
