Land North of Burcot House, Tadpole Lane, St Andrews, Blunsdon, Swindon

In March 2023, Oxford Archaeology undertook a trial-trench evaluation at the
site of a proposed residential development. The works comprised the
excavation of 45 trenches each measuring 50m by 1.8m
The trenches were positioned to ground-truth the results of a geophysical
survey which identified a small number of anomalies of archaeological origin
including potential ditches and pits.
The evaluation confirmed the presence of these anomalies revealing evidence
of medieval and post-medieval activity within the site. A very small assemblage
of pre-medieval finds was recovered but this is considered residual.
