Abstract

In October and November 2011 OA conducted an archaeological watching brief
during the excavation of a new liftshaft at the Taylor Institute, St Giles, Oxford (NGR:
SP 5120 0657). Evidence for post-medieval occupation layers, a stone lined well
and a cellar wall was observed. These are probably associated with the buildings
fronting St Giles which were demolished in 1931 prior to the construction of the
extension to the Taylor Institute. No earlier deposits or features were encountered
