Abstract

The Conservation Officer for Bolton Metropolitan Borough Council, Jacky Whelan, was consulted regarding a planning application (69002/4) for the redevelopment of the site currently occupied by Tonge Moor United Reform Church. In response to this, a brief was issued for an archaeological desk-based assessment and building survey.
Following the submission of a project design, Good and Tillotson Ltd commissioned Oxford Archaeology North to undertake the work. The desk-based assessment and the building investigation were carried out in April 2005.
