Abstract

Between 30th July and 20th August 2013, OA East carried out an archaeological watching brief on land at Watford General Hospital (TL 10878 95475). The monitoring was carried out during a programme of geotechnical investigations. No Archaeological remains were observed during the site investigation. Two of the test pits exposed evidence of walls, one contained a pit, these were modern, of 19th to 20th century date. Two test pits contained evidence of palaeo-deposits and one the remains of a buried soil, each sealed the natural gravel, no features or finds were observed associated with these layers, but they indicate the potential for archaeological survival at these locations.
