Abstract

A fabric survey of Cromwell's Bridge, near Clitheroe, Lancashire (SD 7041 3915), was carried out by
Lancaster University Archaeological Unit (LUAU), on behalf of the Heritage Trust for the North
West and Lancashire County Council, prior to conservation works to the structure. Cromwell's
Bridge, also known as the Old Lower Hodder Bridge, is a Scheduled Ancient Monument (County
SAM no.290), and the programme of archaeological recording was a requirement of Scheduled
