Abstract
An archaeological assessment survey was undertaken, in April and May 1999, of the
Whitbarrow (SD 450870), Brigsteer (SD 480 910) and Hampsfield Allotment Woods (SD 400
800), Cumbria by Lancaster University Archaeological Unit (LUAU), on behalf of The Lake
District National Park Authority and Forest Enterprise. This involved a documentary study of
the three woodlands and was followed by an identification survey which was intended to
identify the extant archaeological resource within the study areas.
