Abstract

During October 2012 Oxford Archaeology East (OAE) conducted an archaeological evaluation at the location of a proposed lorry service area on the site of the Former Trinity Foot Public House, Swavesey.
A geophysical survey was undertaken during the work for the A14 improvement scheme which suggested that the site was of limited archaeological potential with perhaps pits and ditches alongside the road to the north-west (HER 18447).
The evaluation revealed that there no significant archaeological features, although post medieval furrows were recorded. The appearance of these confirms the information presented by HER 11438, 11437, 11439, and 11440 concerning the agricultural use of the land in the area.
