Abstract

In October 1992 an evaluation was carried out by the Oxford Archaeological Unit on behalf of St Nicholas Church Council in advance of plans for the construction of a church room on the N side of St Nicholas Church. The site is currently a garden. The evaluation brief was set by Oxfordshire County Archaeological Services who also monitored the work. There were three elements to the archaeological deposits: an extensive area of later medieval deposits associated with the culvert of the River Stert, at least seven graves, and a wall which may be medieval.
