Abstract
A rescue archaeological excavation carried out at the section of the scheduled ancient monument of Fleam Dyke, Cambridgeshire prior to its destruction due to the expansion of the A11. Fleam Dyke is a massive defensive earthwork 4.5m deep by 8m wide, traditionally interpreted as Anglo-Saxon in date. Artefacts from this excavation confirm a post-Roman date.
