Abstract

An archaeological watching brief was carried out by Oxford Archaeology North (OA North) on behalf of Balfour Beatty during the refurbishment of the water mains along
Market Street, Ulverston, Cumbria (SD 49280 42382 to SD 41059 36012). Cumbria County Council Historic Environment Service recommended that an archaeological watching brief was carried out as the scheme affected an area with potential for medieval remains. The work was undertaken during September 2005. Due to the extensive utility works carried out previously in Market Street no features of archaeological significance were encountered.
