Abstract

Between January and April 2011 Oxford Archaeology undertook the excavation of a
single test pit and maintained a watching brief at Hedsor Wharf, Buckinghamshire
(centred at SU 9039 8605). The work was commissioned for Mrs Josie Rowland by Mr A Jaggard of John Stark and Crickmay Partnership to cover the construction of a
new boathouse on the north bank of the River Thames at Hedsor Wharf. The watching brief observed evidence for the 19th and 20th century stabilisation of the
river's edge that overlay a buried topsoil horizon that probably dates to the 19th century. No evidence for any earlier activity was encountered
