Abstract

Four 1m x 1m test pits were hand-excavated in the eastern part of Mill Common, Huntingdon to a maximum depth of 1.5m. Two of the four test pits encountered early medieval deposits that contain Saxo-Norman and early medieval pottery dating to the 10th to 13th century. The early deposits appear to be due to medieval infilling of old quarries. Three of the four test pits revealed large amounts of modern in-fill, demonstrating that recent dumping has occurred over the site.
