Abstract
The evaluation comprises a desk-based search of the existing documentary sources pertaining to the Dowbridge area, which was carried out in conjunction with seven trial trenches in the area proposed for redevelopment.
The remains were significant enough to conclude that a significant Roman military defensive centre occupied the area.
