Bowling Mead Cottage, Cottered, Hertfordshire

On the 9th July 2012, OA East carried out an archaeological watching brief at Bowling Mead Cottage, Cottered (TL 31805 29255). The monitoring was carried out during the excavation of footings for the construction of an extension to the extant property.
Modern made ground, that extended throughout the full depth of the excavation, was recorded adjacent the back wall of the extant property. In the remainder of the excavation a sequence of garden soil was recorded. No archaeological features or finds were observed.
